Are Nantwich Getting Greedy

Postby jonty on Mon Jul 13, 2009 10:46 am

Went to the Stoke game and thought we put up a good show but I have a problem and would like to hear what other people think, the problem is this:- £8 addmission for a friendly a bit much I think, and the players are not getting any money untill the season kicks of, these guys play their heart out for their club and the way they played against Stoke was top class why oh why does the club think that these guys will play their hearts out every friendly if they are not getting a penny for their efforts, many of them have to get time off work which costs them money so like I have said is Nantwich Town getting greedy by upping the gate prices and not paying the players untill the season starts, I would like to hear other Forum users thoughts on this subject.

I agree

I agree that £8 is a but too much to ask for a friendly, £5 would have been fair. I'm disappointed that they are showing signs of greed. They cannot use the excuse that it was because we were playing a Premier side because they're charging £8 again when we play Crewe Alex. I'll save my money for when the season starts.

£8 is a hell of alot for friendlies that is why I think they are doing the 50% voucher for the Vale game. I have heard that the bar prices have gone up to £3 a pint and they heven't even got sky sports for the Footy.

Good evening Jonty.

No I think you are wrong the Town could do with all the financial support that they can get.

Just get a Non league paper on a Sunday and weep. The amount of teams going to the wall due to poorly financed clubs is a sad state of affairs.

The Stoke game was a fantastic match and worthy of an £8.00 price tag, which you your self said was worth its weight in gold, you cant buy those games.

As for the players putting in appearances at friendlies they need to get a rythm as a team and prove their worth or they dont get a place in the side. I have been to all the friendlies so far and I can understand why the players are putting in the appearences as the standard of play is extremely high this season.
I see Charlie got man of the match at Ilkeston against Nottingam Forest Ikes won 2 - 1.

I just hope that the Town can carry the freshness through into the league when it commences.

I would also like to see all the freebies at the matches start to pay a nominal fee to watch the matches as when the Town are getting gates of uwards of 700 its a pity that probably 50% of them are not supporting the club by paying to get in.

£25.00 for the season would seem fair for family. Cheap entertainment, and better still if the side are playing well.

Season tickets this year are an exceptional buy by getting you 5 free games so potentially any full time supporter would be daft not to invest.

Best regards

I agree. They are such a good price that I decided get one, even though I'll probably have to miss at least 5 games. I bought it in July, thinking it would also get me into the pre-season friendlies. I was very surprised to be told on the turnstile that season tickets aren't valid for friendlies. I appreciate that a season ticket won't get me into cup games, but it seems a bit mean to make season ticket holders pay extra to see the friendlies. As a result, I haven't been to any more games this summer - I'll wait till the season starts.
