News - UNIBOND FOOTBALL LEAGUE HAIL NANTWICH TOWN YOUNG ‘DABBERS’
At the recent annual general meeting of the UniBond Football League the club’s Under 18 team were highly commended by the league management, not only for the exceptional credit and success they brought to The Weaver Stadium last season, but through their efforts the raising of the profile of the league. In what was without doubt the finest season to date for Nantwich Town Youth the youngsters became only the third side in the history of the Northern Premier (UniBond) League to beat a football league side in the FA Youth Cup (Macclesfield Town) but, more creditably, were the only non league side to reach the last 32 (3rd round) before bowing out 2-0 to a very strong Everton side at Goodison Park. Additionally, Tony Ledwards youngsters achieved a creditable runners up position to Marine in the North West Youth Alliance whilst several members of the squad were regular members of the Cheshire County FA Youth team throughout the season.
