Match Preview
UniBond League First Division South
Saturday 19th April.2008

Shepshed Dynamo (15th )
NANTWICH TOWN ( 4th )

A Danny Griggs brace, plus solo contributions from Nick Farquharson and Omar Mamood wrapped up maximum points for ‘The Dabbers’ in a 4 – 2 victory when Shepshed visited us back on Tuesday 18th of March. However, we had to come from behind after Tim Wilks gave Shepshed a 7th minute lead before Nick Farquharson brought us level right on the stroke of half time. Following that, ‘The Dabbers’ rattled off consecutive victories over Alsager Town, Stocksbridge Park Steels and Warrington Town before landing the Cheshire Senior Cup with victory over Altrincham. However, April so far hasn’t been quite such a good month for ‘The Dabbers’ with defeats at Belper Town and Stockbridge whilst sandwiched in between was last weekend’s 4 – 1 revenge win over Belper courtesy of an Andy Kinsey hat-trick plus a solo from Danny Griggs. And so, here we are, the end of season is just around the corner and with three remaining league games, away at Shepshed this weekend, a return visit to Kidsgrove next Wednesday evening, before we wrap up our first ever league campaign in the UniBond League with a home game against fellow promotion rivals Goole FC. Meanwhile, Sheffield FC’s goal less draw away at Colwyn Bay on Thursday has taken them above us ahead of Saturday’s games so we go to Shepshed in 4th and may require at least 6 points from our remaining games to qualify for a play-off position. As you are already aware, Retford’s failure to comply with the required ground grading means that Cammell Laird in 2nd look almost certain to have booked themselves automatic promotion so, going into this weekend’s matches the fight for the four play-off positions are between Sheffield, Nantwich, Grantham, Stocksbridge, Colwyn Bay, Goole and Belper in that order but, come 4.45pm on Saturday, the picture could well have changed. Let’s hope ‘The Dabbers’ return from Shepshed clutching maximum points, whilst our rivals falter! See you at ‘The Dovecote’.
